Each year, The City of Calgary partners with community associations who apply to host Community Cleanups aimed at helping residents dispose of unwanted household items and property waste for free that may not fit in their black carts. For many years, Hawkwood has been fortunate to be selected to host this event in our community. Details for upcoming Community Cleanups, including what is accepted, can be found here. Please note: Hawkwood was not selected to host an event in 2024.
The HCA administers the Hawkwood Community Connections Facebook Group, where residents have an opportunity to connect with other members of their community. To join the group, members must agree to its governing rules and only members can see who’s in the group and what they post. Posts include topics such as upcoming HCA community events, lost and found pets in the neighbourhood, members seeking recommendations for home maintenance/repairs and general interest stories.
The Hawkwood Community Garden opened in 2017 and provides an opportunity for residents to rent a garden bed. Gardeners must hold a valid Hawkwood Community Association membership to rent a bed and have access to tools and watering cans onsite.
