Welcome to HCA’s 2024 Pickleball Group
The 2024 season marks the third year of HCA’s Pickleball Group.
HCA’ Pickleball Group is a community-based group that runs from the beginning of May to the end of September. We play on the four outdoor courts at Hawkwood Community Park.
An HCA membership is required to join the group and this year to offset the cost of replacing equipment, we are introducing a $20 program fee.
Intake Form
This year we have added an intake form to our registration process. Please take the time to fill it out completely as the information will help with the group planning.
Group Play
Group play takes place on Tuesdays and Thursday (both day and evening times), and Fridays (daytime only). We provide all the equipment necessary to play – balls, paddles, and nets (though we do encourage you to bring your own paddle).
New this year – we will be introducing competitive play to our some of our sessions. Two courts will be dedicated to social/fun play and two courts will be dedicated to competitive play.
Volunteer Commitment
To keep our costs down, we will be encouraging members to sign up for a volunteer role. Time commitment runs from 2 hours up to as much as you want to volunteer.
Lessons
This year we will once again be offering lessons for a small fee.
If you are new to pickleball we highly recommend you take our Intro to Pickleball Clinic. We will also be offering specific skill lessons on Tuesday evenings.
Tournaments
Our very fun, Fun Tournament is back and if there is enough interest, we will also offer a competitive tournament.
Meet and Greet – Saturday April 27, 1-3pm at Hawkwood Community Park courts.
We encourage all to come out to our Meet and Greet. You will learn more about the season, volunteer roles and commitment. We will also share our plans for a fun tournament and lesson opportunities.
Volunteer Roles
Organizing Committee
Time commitment 2-3 hours a month • Attend committee meetings and respond to email requests from the program coordinator • Guide the direction of the group.
Meet and Greet Event Help
No Experience Pickleball Experience Necessary • Time commitment 2.5 hours • Help set up for Meet and Greet April 27th (May 4th backup date) • Be on hand to direct people to right info
Drop-In Session Host - Daytime
Time Commitment 2 hrs per session (do as many or as few sessions as you want) • Will be able to sign up for specific dates once season starts • Host a drop-in session • Arrive 15 min early to ensure box is open • Welcome players and encourage movement.
