Welcome to the Snow Patrol – an initiative designed to make winter a little easier and build skills and job experience for our community teenagers! Our program pairs residents in need of snow shoveling with local teens looking to gain valuable job experience and log volunteer hours.
How It Works:
- Residents: Sign up to have your walkways and driveways shoveled throughout the winter season. For a small fee, you'll enjoy the peace of mind that your home stays safe and accessible during those snowy months while helping teens gain valuable job experience for their futures!
- Teens: Looking to build your resume and earn volunteer hours? Sign up as a Snow Patroller! By joining the program, you'll gain real-world experience, help your neighbors, and receive a Letter of Reference and a Job Description for your resume at the end of the season – a great way to impress future employers or colleges!
Logistics:
- Resident Fee: Residents will pay $100/season to cover administrative costs and support the program. This is approximately 1/6 the cost to hire a professional company for the winter, which is usually ~$150/month or more.
- Weather Notifications: Both residents and Patrollers will receive notifications when shoveling is required, making it easy to plan and stay updated on snowfall. All communication will be through the HCA (no direct contact between residents and Patrollers).
- Safety First: Residents should not directly interact with their Patroller, and should contact the HCA with any questions or concerns.
- Guarantee: HCA guarantees your walk will be shoveled, and aims to have the patrollers complete the work within 48 hours. However, we cannot guarantee timelines, and flexibility is required.
- Logistics: Patrollers will aim to clear residences within 48 hours of any snowfall 2" or greater, but cannot be guaranteed.
