This month’s report from The President (as published in the Hawk Eye)…
On-line Registration will start for our community-based, recreational soccer program for U4, U6 and U8 players. All the games are at Hawkstone Field on Monday & Wednesday nights from 6-7PM and we will continue with only one game per week per age group. As always, the success of this program is directly related to the active participation of parents as volunteers. We need you to help – especially with coaching – and I want to express how much fun it can be to coach these kids at this age! Look for more information in this Hawk Eye and make sure to go to our website at www.HawkwoodCA.com .
As I write this, we are in the grips of a deep, winter freeze with perhaps some short term relief on the horizon. This is looking more like a “normal” winter with lots of snow, some cold temperatures and the odd chinook thrown in. It is really important to make sure your sidewalk is cleared off after a snowfall, and even more critical is to try and remove any ice build-up that happens from the freeze/thaw cycle we can get. Also, if you have a neighbour that has problems with getting their walk shoveled due to age or physical abilities, please be a Snow Angel and clear their walk once in a while. If someone isn’t clearing their sidewalk, and it becomes a safety hazard, don’t hesitate to call 311 and report it.
Well, it’s another election year with Calgarians going to the polls in October. HCA is impartial to all candidates and we do not endorse any candidates. However, the community association is a good venue for both residents and candidates to ask questions and express their platforms. If you think of any municipal issue that bothers you, and you would like us to ask the Ward 2 Councillor candidates, drop me a line at President@HawkwoodCA.com.
