President’s Message – February 2016

This month’s report from The President (as published in the Hawk Eye)…

Hawkstone Rink

Well, another winter season is coming to a close and our skating days at the rink are diminishing.  For the second year in a row we had a challenging time with the weather.  This season it was February that was far warmer than usual and we had to close the rink for a significant portion of the month.  I want to thank the volunteers who came out and helped set up and maintain the rink – your efforts are noticed and appreciated by the users of the rink.  Thanks again and see you next year!

Hawkwood Soccer

Registration for our community based recreational soccer program for U4, U6 and U8 players is coming to a close on March 1, so hurry up and register.  This is a lot of fun for the kids and the parents and a good opportunity to meet other Hawkwoodians.  Please consider volunteering as a coach or helping out with the uniforms or equipment – we couldn’t run this program without you!  Look for more information in this Hawk Eye and on our website .

Wanted: Social Director

Are you new to Hawkwood or have lived here for a while and want to help out in your community?  Do you have children in our schools or an empty-nester?  Are you looking for a way to benefit the families of Hawkwood through a positive social experience?  If you answered yes to any of these questions, you could be our new Social Director!  We are looking for someone who can help organize a few social events during the year, that are not limited to, but primarily focused on outdoor, family affairs.  Typically we run 2 to 3 events and are looking for some new ideas (or twists on the old ones).  If you have some spare time to help, I would love to hear from you – contact me at if you have any questions or are interested in helping out in Hawkwood!
