President’s Message – December 2017

This month’s report from The President (as published in the Hawk Eye)…

HCA AGM

I want to thank the few souls that did come out to the AGM, but alas, we did not reach quorum and we couldn’t approve the financials and elect in our slate of Directors.  We will take care of this business at a Special Meeting in the New Year. I also want to thank Greg Hartzler, Community Liaison for Ward 2, Heather Mackay – City of Calgary Neighbourhood Partnership Coordinator for Hawkwood and Cst. Scott Nedham from Calgary Police Service for coming out and being our special guests.  Also, a big shout out to Hawkwood Resident and Britannia Wine Merchant Steve Goldsworthy for helping us out with some great wines.

HCA Needs You!

Here at HCA, we have a few key volunteer positions that we need to be filled in to round out our team.  If you have a couple of hours a months to spare and looking to help out in this great community, then please consider volunteering in some of the key roles such as Soccer, Webmaster and Membership.  Our retiring directors have offered to help train the next generation, so please don’t feel like you will be thrown to the wolves!  Please contact me at President@HawkwoodCA.com  or give me a call at (403) 277-9225 if you are interested and I can answer any questions you may have.

Winter Festival

If Mother Nature is smiling upon us, Sunday February 11th will be our annual Winter Festival and we will have our usual hot food & drinks, games and of course skating on our ice rink.  So mark down the day in your calendar, and more information will be coming out in this and the next edition of the Hawk Eye.  Speaking of the rink, we could always use some more volunteers to help maintain the rink.  It’s pretty easy, only takes a couple of nights a month (from December to February usually) and the comradery is great.   Please reach out to me to find out how you can sign up to help.

Holidays

As you are reading this, we are probably in the midst of the Christmas holiday season.  I want to personally thank all the members of the HCA board and the many volunteers for a great 2017 and I look forward to working with you again in the New Year.  I also want to wish every resident of Hawkwood a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and hopefully 2018 will bring happiness and prosperity to us all.
